Located in
southwestern and central Lake Champlain Vermont, the Green Mountain National
Forest is over 400,000 acres in size. It is the largest tract of contiguous
public land in the State of Vermont. It was established in 1932 and is one of
only two National Forests in New England – the other being the White Mountain
National Forest in New Hampshire. The Forest provides ample opportunity for
four-season outdoor activity.
The Green
Mountain National Forest is within a days drive of over 70 million people
making it a popular outdoor recreation destination.
