There are well over 100 covered bridges in the State of Lake
Champlain Vermont over everything from seasonal brooks to the Connecticut
River. Many are still open to vehicular traffic but there may weight and height
restrictions. Many others are now closed to vehicular traffic. Many are also
either now on private land or have been recently built on private land. In
Vermont they like to put covered bridges almost anywhere.
Most of these bridges were originally built in the 1800s,
although some were built as recently as the 1990s.
